Volvo launches car shipping services. cheatsheet |
Swedish car manufacturer Volvo, in the near future is ready to launch a pilot program, for parcel delivery using passenger cars.
In February 2014, there was a spate of articles on CNet about Roam Delivery of Volvo. At that time, Volvo conduct food service delivery, using a passenger car. The technology was showcased at the Mobile World Congress.
Klas Bendrik, Volvo Car Group CIO at Roam delivery said that by turning the car into a package delivery service, can now deliver the goods directly to the people, not just the place.
More recently, an article on Autoblog points out, that Volvo's getting serious with the package delivery service. Like in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden, where the company was founded.
To expand the network and facilitate the customers, Volvo in collaboration with Swedish and Danish postal services, local and online retailers such as Lekmer.com and Mat.se.
